Chocolate Festival and Pig Cook Off, you may ask what the two have in common with Charities.

MacDaddy and the Carolina Chocolate Festival teamed together to provide a Pig Cook Off on November 4th.  All proceeds go to support local charities.  Cooks from North Carolina and South Carolina came together Friday Night to compete in this sanction, BBQ event.  Twelve hundred pounds of the best BBQ you can get on the on the Carolina coast was served along with Fat Fellas providing the sides.   Plates were sold throughout Carteret County with a satellite location in Morehead City Kmart parking lot.  A group of volunteers worked hard to prepare plates for delivery and walk up traffic.  Lots of thanks go out to the chefs, judges, MacDaddy’s staff and Carolina Chocolate Festival volunteers.   Vendors got a chance to sale their products and services.  Even Habitats to Humanity was taking part telling folks in the community what they do and how folks help in our area. W.A. Page, Harley Davidson of New Bern , Molly Maid, Cedar Point Tire Co, Timmy’s Muffler, Gils Market, Cindy Fitzpatrick of Beaufort Farm Bureau, Sewell Insurance and Goose Creek Marine were local businesses that took part by being chef sponsors.  We also want to thank the public for supporting our local charities by purchasing BBQ plates.

The Pig Cook Off winners were

  • 1st – Jimmy Bristle
  • 2nd- Bobby Prescott
  • 3rd- Brooke South
